Fri., 7 June 2019 – Mon., 10 June 2019

In Reith, Tyrol, Austria

Further Training for Yoga Teachres with Swami Sivadasananda, Yoga Acharya. Expert and creative handling of mistakes, limitations, adaptations and variations in the asanas.

With certificate of participation for 33 training units (45 min each)

Expert and creative handling of mistakes, limitations, adaptations and variations in the asanas.

The ancient Hatha Yoga texts do not mention the sequence in which asanas are to be practised, nor do they say which corrections are to be applied. Possibly these aspects were developed directly during the yoga class. Swami Vishnudevananda was a brilliant example of this tradition.

This further training course was devised during a three-week retreat of senior instructors of the Sivananda Yoga Ashrams and Centres:

Verbalising the various reasons for techniques with which Swami Vishnudevananda taught asanas and pranayama and definition of the most important asana corrections.

Focus on asana corrections for typical students’ errors or limitations.

  • Typical beginner mistakes: Developing appropriate verbal instructions to correct these mistakes. Additional physical corrections to the extent necessary.
  • Typical limitations of a beginner: Training observational skills to recognise lack of mobility, muscle length and muscle strength. How to help the students to accept these limitations and cope with them better.
  • Preparatory variations or exercises: Individual guidance of the student according to his/her needs.
  • Making progress in the basic pose: Verbal instruction and physical support to improve muscle strength, muscle strength and mobility.
  • Improving the basic pose through advanced variations: Developing advanced variations for a deeper experience of the basic pose.
