Our yoga and meditation programme was developed by Swami Vishnudevananda to gently lead the body back to its natural biorhythm. During a Sivananda yoga vacation, the mind becomes calmer and you find your way back to your centre.

Daily workshops or talks on how yoga works, the psychology and philosophy of yoga, provide fascinating insights to help you deepen your practice.

You will meet interesting, like-minded people at mealtime, on walks and in the group meditation.

Take in the panoramic views of mountain meadows, forests, brooks and lakes while enjoying a refreshing hike, swim or bike-ride.

Weekend visits provide an ideal introduction to this yoga vacation programme. Longer stays let the full yoga experience unfold.

The daily schedule
6:00 – 7:30 amMorning meditation, mantra chanting, talk
Occasionally the morning meditation takes place in the form of a silent walk
8:00 – 9:30 amAsanas and pranayama

from 11:00 amTime for walks or hikes to the most beautiful places in the area such as the Venedigerblick, up to the Astberg or the Kitzbüheler Horn.

Programmes are subject to change or cancellation. Participation in the afternoon lecture/workshop is optional.


Donate your time: Many yoga vacation guests contribute to the community feeling in the Retreat House by volunteering during their stay. Ask at the reception desk for more information.

You have time for walks in the immediate vicinity or hikes to the most beautiful places in the area such as the Bichlach, the Venedigerblick circular route or up to the Astberg. Please bring hiking shoes and rain gear.

IN THE MORNING: Start the day in contemplative silence during the morning meditation, enjoy the group chanting and spiritual reading. Twice a week and weather-permitting, the meditation takes place as a silent walk. This is followed by the first asana session with invigorating exercises on the open-air platform. Afterwards breakfast awaits you.

DURING THE DAY you can take part in a workshop or talk with one of the yoga teachers. Or you might like to swim at the nearby Giehringer Pond (2 km) or Schwarzsee Lake (3 km). You also have time to explore the beautiful Bichlach area in the direct vicinity of the Retreat House.

IN THE AFTERNOON your body finds its optimum flexibility in the second yoga class. Observe how the breath is slowing down, and the mind tunes in to the lightness of the yoga practice. Afterwards dinner is already prepared.

IN THE EVENING: Come to the evening meditation and enjoy the group meditation, chanting and interesting talk. Weather-permitting the meditation will take place on a mountain meadow as part of a walk. Go to bed feeling fulflled, inspired and ready to have a restful night’s sleep.

You will be staying in the Pointner eco-hotel, which serves wholesome vegetarian cuisine.

Vegetarian, organic & non-smoking for 50 years.

The family-run hotel, established in 1973, offers you an environmentally conscious and climate-neutral stay. The vegetarian cuisine is organically grown.

The hotel has been awarded the European eco-label as well as Austria’s gastronomic accolade ‘Grüne Haube’.

The hotel uses green electricity, pellet heating and a solar-powered hot water system.


Recharge in nature

Guided silent walks beginning directly from the Retreat House. This walking meditation is a unique experience and takes place several times a week instead of the morning or evening meditation:

Experience the gentle rising and setting of the sun. the various phases of the moon, the hidden beauties of the valley, the panoramic view of the Wild Kaiser and Hohe Tauern mountain ranges, the songs of many bird species, the variety of trees, bushes and medicinal plants along the footpath.

A new theme every week

We offer a variety of vacation themes so you will be sure to find one that matches your interests. A popular theme, “Yoga, Rest and Relaxation”, is offered year-round.

Typically the theme is presented in an introductory talk or workshop. Each day, we take time to explore the theme and put it into practice. You will also get a reading list and tips on how to do it @ home.
